Apple introduced the iOS 18.1 update last week that brought Apple Intelligence, the company’s suite of artificial intelligence (AI) features, to iPhones and other devices. A report now suggests that the next round of Apple Intelligence features, including ChatGPT integration in Siri and a new Image Playground app, will arrive with the iOS 18.2 update for iPhone earlier than expected. The release schedule for other iOS 18 updates, as well as the improvements they may bring, have also been suggested.

Apple has already confirmed that the iOS 18.2 update with more Apple Intelligence features will be released in December. Similar update release trends in the past suggest that this could happen in the second week of the month. However, in his Power on newsletter, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman said that the release of iOS 18.2 could happen earlier than expected. It can be placed during the week of December 2.
This update should introduce Apple Intelligence in English in addition to Anglo-American.

Additionally, Gurman suggested that the “next big update to Apple Intelligence” will arrive with the iOS 18.4 update. This update is expected to be launched in April 2025 and will bring improvements to Siri, including the ability to access user data and change its answers to questions based on it.

Apple’s iOS 18.2 update is expected to introduce some key Apple Intelligence features. This includes a new Image Playground app, which uses generative AI to create images from text suggestions. It also includes Genmoji, which does the same for emojis instead of images. Users can share these images and emojis in apps like Messages, Notes and Keynote.

Apple has also integrated ChatGPT into Siri with its latest update. Its voice assistant can now use OpenAI’s AI-powered chatbot capabilities to provide users with more in-depth answers to questions. They can now directly search ChatGPT through Siri to get better answers. With iOS 18.2, ChatGPT is also part of the writing tools. This feature requires an optional login, and iPhone users with a paid ChatGPT account can use their account to access more powerful OpenAI models.
