Teased here is the fourth generation of the Nissan Elgrand, the luxury MPV that has traditionally been the Toyota Alphard/Vellfire‘s main foe (but now has many more contenders to deal with). It’ll be unveiled later this year ahead of a Japanese-market launch in the fiscal year 2026, which stretches until March 31, 2027.
You’ve seen the otherworldly Hyper Tourer concept, haven’t you? Well, the production Elgrand should be toned down quite a bit from that, although it should still look futuristic. The Hyper Tourer’s chequered pattern manifests itself here in the grille as well as the head and tail lamps, and there’s a nice sculpted roof spoiler.
Expect Nissan’s latest ProPilot ADAS and third-gen e-Power series-hybrid system. Nissan claims the new system is lighter, as much as 5.6 dB quieter, and more efficient. Whether there will be a battery-electric (EV) version is still unknown.
2014 was the last time Malaysia got an Elgrand officially – the RM388k third-gen facelift had a naturally-aspirated 280 PS/344 Nm 3.5 litre V6 and an Xtronic CVT. Will the new Elgrand come to Malaysia? Edaran Tan Chong Motor did show the Hyper Tourer concept at KLIMS 2024, so…
