Chery Tiggo Cross price in Malaysia – from RM80,xxx?

With the 2025 Chery Tiggo Cross previewed in Malaysia last month, it now appears that bookings for the compact SUV are now being taken, as indicated in this (now deleted) Facebook post by a Chery sales advisor.

Previewed in two variants – a 1.5 litre turbocharged petrol and a 1.5 litre petrol hybrid – the Tiggo Cross has now been indicated to start from just over RM80,000, and the order books for the compact SUV are open.

Powering the former is a 1.5 litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 147 PS and 210 Nm of torque, sending drive to the front wheels through a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. This offers a claimed fuel consumption of 6.3 litres per 100 km, and a 0-100 km/h time of 10.3 seconds.

The hybrid variant gets the same engine without the turbocharger, and so the ICE part of the powertrain offers 96 PS and 120 Nm of torque.

This is combined with two electric motors integrated into a Direct Hybrid Transmission (DHT150), with the electric drive portion contributing 204 PS and 310 Nm, drawing energy from a 1.8 kWh LFP battery beneath the boot floor (capacity drops to 350 litres, down from the 1.5 turbo’s 380 litres).

Thus equipped, the hybrid is the more potent performer of the two variants and the more efficient at the same time, offering a claimed fuel consumption of 5.4 litres per 100 km and a 0-100 km/h time of 8.9 seconds. The 1.5 turbo gets three drive modes – Eco, Normal and Sport – while the hybrid gets two; Eco and Sport.

Just two exterior visual cues distinguish the turbocharged petrol variant from the hybrid; the 1.5L turbo gets 18-inch alloys and ‘TIGGO CROSS’ tailgate badging, while the hybrid gets ‘TIGGO HYBRID’ tailgate badging and 17-inch alloys.

Standard equipment across both variants include all-LED auto lighting, auto wipers, functional roof rails, faux leather seats, soft-touch dashboard, ambient lighting, dual-zone air-con (with touch panel), one rear air-con vent, 15W wireless charging, powered driver seat (manual for front passenger), twin screens (both 10.25 inches) with wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, a 540-degree camera, TPMS and six speakers.

Both the turbocharged petrol and hybrid variants will be locally assembled (CKD) from the outset at the Inokom plant in Kulim, Kedah, where the Omoda 5, Omoda E5, Tiggo 7 Pro and Tiggo 8 Pro are also produced.
