BMW Group Malaysia has announced it will supply an electric vehicle (EV) fleet to the government to support Malaysia’s ASEAN chairmanship in 2025.
Throughout the year, the government’s fleet will include the BMW i7 xDrive60 M Sport as well as the i5 eDrive40 M Sport. At present, there are seven BMW EVs on sale in Malaysia. These include the i4, i5, i7, iX1, iX2, iX3 and iX, all of which are fully-imported (CBU) offerings.
According to the company, this initiative aligns with the nation’s National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR) while also supporting the chairmanship’s theme of ‘Inclusivity and Sustainability’.
“As the leading provider of premium electric vehicles in Malaysia, BMW Group Malaysia continues to support initiatives that champion sustainability and innovation through its comprehensive EV portfolio, strategic partnerships, and commitment to technology openness. Electric vehicles represent a critical step forward in reducing emissions and advancing the adoption of sustainable technologies across the ASEAN region,” the company said in its release.
